Hot breakfast joints for business travelers selected by Zagat.com
If you are globetrotting for business purposes like business traveler Barry Maher who traveled for work about 100 days last year, this information would be useful for you in more than just a way.
Tim Zagat, the CEO of Zagat Survey, which rated restaurants in guidebooks and on its website, said the selected breakfast joints for business travelers provide great food in contrast to the convenience of eating breakfast in your hotel beside an easy introduction to the real local scene.

Some of Zagat.com’s picks:
•For $8, the menu at Buzzbrews Kitchen in Dallas features such unique fare as marinated nopales (cactus) sautéed with scrambled eggs and topped with feta cheese. It’s served with refried black beans, fried tomatoes and corn tortillas.
•In-the-know Chicagoans get their breakfast fixes at one of six Orange restaurants. For $8.95, menu choices include cinnamon-roll or jelly-doughnut pancakes and chai tea French toast.
•In Washington, the “capital’s capital of soul food” is the Florida Avenue Grill, an “old-school” diner serving Southern comfort food. Two pork chops and two eggs, served with biscuits and grits, costs $8.50.
•At Mama’s on Washington Square in San Francisco, diners can feast for $10.50 on the Northwest omelet. It includes smoked salmon and grilled leeks drizzled with sour cream, served with grilled red potatoes and toast.
San Francisco and other big cities have more than one excellent place for breakfast, so it’s not surprising that some frequent travelers have different opinions than Zagat.com.
“My absolute favorite is a little hole in the wall called Home Plate in San Francisco,” says Avi Rosenthal, a vice president in the energy-management industry. “The food is amazing: home-cooked, fresh, a little gourmet and not overpriced.”
Zagat.com found the best joints for breakfast in 25 cities, ranging from Boston to San Francisco and from Minneapolis to Houston, which are frequently visited by business travelers.
