Stubbornness – Do not allow it to develop in your child

Posted by admin | Raising Your Child | Friday 27 November 2009 4:13 am

Stubbornness - Do not allow it to develop in your childEvery parent loves to fulfill all wishes of his or her child but what they forget while doing their best is that they are encouraging stubbornness in the child without even realizing it. And when the child develops the habit, he or she is blamed of being stubborn. But what is left out is the fact that the child was never wrong as he or she did not have the common sense to differentiate between right and wrong but the adult parents do had that knowledge and failed to differentiate.

I know that it is really hard for a parent to refuse demands of his or her children but that does not mean that all demands of the children, even if they are wrong or unnecessary, are to be fulfilled. Being a parent, you have to be strong, calm, and understanding to tell your child that this demand is wrong and will not be fulfilled. The reason of refusal has to be communicated in a calm and understanding manner. This will not only eliminate wrong demands from your child’s side but will also help him or her grow as a mature person.

Remember, it is not wrong to satisfy your child’s right demands but it is wrong to satisfy wrong demands of your child. Raising your child is a virtue that comes with patience and understanding.

Things that you must never tell to Your Children-IV

Posted by admin | Raising Your Child | Friday 14 August 2009 4:17 am

Things that you must never tell to Your Children-IVOne thing that is often told by some parents to their children is that they (children) deliberately make things complicated though they are easy. Can you really expect your young children to be on the same platform as you are? If you are, you are completely wrong. Every one learns from his own mistakes and guidance of those he trusts. You may lift a weight or cut vegetables in a few seconds but your child may take it longer than you and he cannot be blamed for that. Try to encourage your child by saying something like, ‘When I was of your age, I found this thing difficult but you really did it to perfection.’ You should not be rude to your child just because you did not get the right treatment from your parents or some one else or for any other reason.

The most absurd thing that a parent can tell a child is that he must never have been born or he is the reason of bad luck. Jesus, how can you talk such bad things even before your child? If you are really making these statements, you really need to have a thought lift or preferably consult a psychiatrist.

In short, try to give love, security, affection, respect, time, and right attitude to your children to help them grow to the fullest. Do not be the first obstructing stone before them by raising a voice whenever they fail or decides to make their own decision.

Things that you must never tell to Your Children-II

Posted by admin | Raising Your Child | Monday 10 August 2009 4:17 am

Things that you must never tell to Your Children-IIOne of the biggest mistakes parents do is by comparing two or more of their children with each other. This creates nothing but sibling rivalry and even creates a long distance between parents and children. Despite the fact that two children have no problem with each other in the initial stages, you are making them enemies for life. This should never be done. You, as a parent, need to understand the fact that every one of us is unique in his own ways and there cannot be any comparisons between two different personalities. If your child has a weakness, accept it and make every possible effort to ensure that things are corrected before they go out of hand. This will help you win his trust, faith, and respect in you.

There are many occasions when a distinction is being made between a male child and a female child. It is important for you to realize that this is not only absurd but also unlawful. You cannot do things like that to your own child, who see an idol in you. This will erode the respect he or she has for you besides creating a void between parent-child relationships. If you are doing or scolding your child for these issues, it is essential that you need to have urgent second thoughts.

You need to understand that your child always needs your attention. If you fail to give him this attention, you cannot shift the blame by acting harsh to him. Be calm and respect your child if you want him to reciprocate respect, love, and affection.

Things that you must never tell to Your Children-I

Posted by admin | Raising Your Child | Saturday 8 August 2009 4:18 am

Things that you must never tell to Your Children-IThe fact that children tend to get influenced by people and surroundings easily is often a cause of concern for all parents. This is the reason why dealing with them and ensuring that they are raised with proper manners and ethics are two of the biggest problems for every parent in this world.

It is commonly found that parents tend to say things that they never should have said when they see things going out of control. There is nothing wrong in influencing your children to act and think right but childhood and adolescence are stages when the young minds can make mistakes and you need to correct them and ensure that they are not repeated. Let us find why there is loss of respect and faith between parents and children.

It is very common with some parents to say to their children to act as per instructions or a witch or monster will come. This is totally wrong as terrifying your own child to get things done is an absurd idea in its entirety. You may make him traumatized and you will lose faith and respect of your child when he will find out that you were telling a lie. It is important to mote here that the authority and regulation of right decision should come from you and not from an imaginary or outside force.

You can help them make better decisions of life but the onus of making a decision must be left on them. Make them learn from mistakes and if they are committing or about to commit a big mistake, act to correct them immediately.
