On November, Google paid tribute to Polish sci-fi author Stanislaw Lem with an interesting new doodle.

Lem is best known for his 1961 novel Solaris that has been made into a film three times, including Steven Soderbergh’s 2002 version starring George Clooney.

Google came up with its first doodle in 1998 when it’s creators Larry Page and Sergey Brin added a Burning Man from the famous festival in Nevada when they attended the event.

Back then the firm was so small that it was designed to show that the two were not in the office to answer the phone.

The design team of Google has come up with more than 300 doodles for its US website and another 700 worldwide.

The 36 percent revenue surge of Google Inc. has smashed expectations of the Wall Street and eclipsed concerns about mounting expenses, sending the Internet giant’s shares up more than 12 percent.

Google shares were up 12.3 percent at $594.50 in after-market trading, or just a whisker above levels at which the stock began 2011.

“Google should be viewed as a growth company again this quarter,” said Stifel Nicolaus analyst Jordan Rohan. “The combination of mobile search, Android, ad exchange, YouTube, and the core search businesses, they’re all doing well. Google is no longer a one trick pony.”

“The number to focus on is really the GAAP earnings number. Google spent aggressively, hiring just as many people this quarter as the did last quarter.”

Investors had feared Google’s ever-increasing spending would eat into margins. Operating expenses leapt 49 percent to $2.97 billion in the second quarter, to about a third of revenue.

Analysts said the big increase in sales more than compensated for the rise in costs, but Google might find it increasingly difficult to shore up margins while it continues to hire, acquire and invest.

“Revenue growth overrides the hiring and the expense issues,” BGC Partners analyst Colin Gillis said in response to the share price jump.

“We’re still in the very early stages of what we want to do,” CEO Larry Page said. “Our emerging … products can generate huge new businesses for Google in the long run, just like search. And we have tons of experience monetizing products over time.”

The virus, called ‘here you have’ or ‘VBMania’, has attacked servers across the world including those at NASA, Google, and possibly the US internal security department office.

This virus is a simple Trojan Horse that arrives in the inbox with the odd-but-suggestive subject line ‘here you have’, according to the Fox News.

The body reads ‘This is The Document I told you about, you can find it Here’ or ‘This is The Free Download Sex Movies, you can find it Here’.

The Internet Storm Center, a free analysis and warning service that tracks malicious internet activity, reported that the initial application that generated the vast cloud of spam clogging servers had been taken down, which should limit the spread of the virus Friday.

However, the centre warned: ‘New variants may well follow.’

Leading virus monitors such as McAfee Labs and Symantec are currently investigating the threat, and have already updated their website to push security products that could protect users.

‘Stop or remove the virus with Norton Internet Security 2011,’ advised Symantec on its site Friday morning. The security companies describe ‘here you have’ as especially challenging to monitor, since the virus may already have replicated into several new forms.

The US officials denied that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was affected by any such virus.
