Posted by admin | Blogging | Monday 21 February 2011 1:31 am

Most stressful time of the weekThe most stressful time of the working week is Tuesday at 10am, according to a Brit study.

The Telegraph reported that half of British employees pinpointed mid-morning on Tuesday as their ’stress peak’ as this is the time when their workload becomes ‘too much’ and they start to crumble under the pressure.

From in.news.yahoo.com:

However, on Tuesday reality sets in and staff spend the very first part of the day going through emails they ignored on Monday before planning the week ahead.

And they’re faced with a mountain of a to-do list to tackle and struggle with their boss’ demands or impending deadlines.

The study carried out by the leading recruitment agency Michael Page quizzed 3,000 Brit office workers- aged between 18 and 45- on their level of stress throughout the typical working week.

It found a quarter regularly feel stressed at work and for three quarters of workers they regularly come to the end of their tether by 11.16am each day.

But 1 in 5 find it gets too much before nine o’clock.

4 in 10 blamed heavy workloads and a third said dealing with difficult clients or customers left them feeling frazzled.

Yet 3 in 10 admitted it was their boss, which caused them tension in the office and one in six blamed their colleagues for not listening to their cries for help.

The majority of workers said they coast through Monday with gossip from the weekend and discussing TV shows they’ve watched.

Higher salaries for slimmer women and fat men

According to a recent study, men who ae skinnier than average cash smaller paychecks than normal-weighted men. On the other hand, women are paid significantly more than their average-size counterparts.

The study disclosed that men should be big and strong, and women skinny if they want to earn a fair salary.

From in.news.yahoo.com:

Experts say it is just another sign that as a society, we have internalized the unrealistic, media-driven physical ideals that show up in the workplace – and, therefore, the pocketbook.

Researchers Timothy Judge and Daniel Cable found thin women earned about 16,000 dollars more a year on average. In contrast, thin men earned about 8,000 dollars less than their more muscular male co-workers.

They said that much of the problem is the result of subconscious decisions based on entrenched social stereotypes.heir report cites studies in which obese individuals were identified as ‘undisciplined, dishonest and less likely to do productive work’.

Conversely, the researchers pointed out that employers and fellow employees associate values of self-discipline, thrift, hard work and positivity with thin individuals.

The researchers suggested that employers look at their assumptions about employees’ weight, because they may be rooted in prejudice.

The finding was reported in the Washington Post and published in the Journal of Applied Psychology.

Software exports of India will went up in FY12

Posted by admin | Opinion | Tuesday 8 February 2011 2:54 am

Software exports of India will went up in FY12Software and services exports of India are expected to witness a rise of 16-18 percent in the year to March 2012, according to an industry body. The increase is attributed to demand for outsourcing services by Western clients that is expected to remain strong.

Export revenue of $68 billion to $70 billion were forecasted for India’s showpiece outsourcing sector in fiscal 2012 by the National Association of Software & Services Cos (NASSCOM).

From in.finance.yahoo.com:

India’s IT sector, whose clients include General Electric and Citigroup, would see export revenue rise 18.7 percent to $59 billion in fiscal 2011, NASSCOM said.

It had estimated export revenue of $56-$57 billion last February.

“Pent-up demand for IT-BPO services, return of discretionary spending, new business models that encouraged first time buyers, and re-invented value proposition for existing ones, were the key drivers for the industry performance,” Som Mittal, president of NASSCOM said in a statement.

Last month, India’s top two software services exporters Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys Technologies said business remains good in 2011 but were worried Europe’s debt crisis and rising domestic inflation could weigh on growth.

The share of India in the global outsourcing market rose to 55 percent in 2010 from 51 in 2009 due to growth of demand from the U.S. market and banking and financial services industry, NASSCOM added.
