Indian Railways' first television commercial a YouTube hit

A ‘human train’ running through the streets and buildings of Kolkata, the first television commercial of Indian Railways, has become a hit on YouTube. However, some people are of the view that Desh ka Mel train appears to have no seats for women, one half of India.

The commercial is an adaptation of the popular track from the 1968 Ashok Kumar film Aashirwaad plays in the background, Rail gaadi chhuk chhuk chhuk chhuk.

From in.news.yahoo.com:

Piyush Pandey, executive chairman and creative director of Ogilvy & Mather, the agency that created the ad that has now been watched over 45,000 times on YouTube, and has been listed on bestadsontv.com, said it wasn’t a deliberate decision to leave women out.

“We tried to keep everyone. But this was a demanding shoot. We shot the footage nearly 70 times to get it right. We needed people who would be ready to jog around for hours and hours. And we barely had a couple of days to wind it up. It was a physically excruciating shoot,” Pandey said.

“Maybe if we had more athletic women or sportswomen, we would have used them in the train.”

Pandey did point out though that “if you see the ad, women, kids and old people are all watching the human train”, and that in that sense, “they are all participating”.

Pandey, who has done several ad films for governments before, including the famous Mile sur mera tumhara and the latest ads for Gujarat Tourism, argued that the Rail gaadi ad was about the symbolism of the Indian Railways rather than about the number of men or women who participated.

In today’s times, people always try to bring a good thing down by pointing things that were not even considered or thought out. Just like people are pointing fingers on the ad makers for not including women when they don’t bother to give even seats reserved for women to them in trains and buses and still burn brides in the name of dowry.

Commonwealth Games Scam – The Real Insight

Posted by admin | Opinion | Saturday 23 October 2010 4:14 am

Commonwealth Games Scam - The Real InsightThe 2010 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XIX Commonwealth Games, were held in Delhi (India) fro, October 3-14, 2010. The Delhi CWG games 2010 were held in true style with more than 6,081 athletes from 71 Commonwealth nations and dependencies competing in 21 sports and 272 events. Shera was the official mascot of the games and AR Rahman’s “Jiyo Utho Bado Jeeto” was the official song of the Delhi Commonwealth games.

Though much was said about the organizing abilities of the country even before the games started, things started melting down, particularly after the opening ceremony. Charges of corruption were levied against the CWG federation, organizing committee, and even the Prime Minister’s Office was not spared. The Delhi government, led by Sheila Dikshit, and respected institutions such as DDA, NDMC, Metro, and others were not spared either and the nation witnessed many blame games happening. However, things start changing after a successful organization and athletes who previously feared for life, safety, and hygiene applauded the efforts of all involved and the great hospitality they enjoyed while being a part of the Commonwealth games.

There may be charges of corruption and Commonwealth games scam against some but Delhi and its people will surely appreciate all the things that have changed the state and city for the better. There were no security fears, the city shine like ever before, new Metro routes were laid-out and completed, roads and malls beautified, and the best part is that every one joined in the celebrations to enjoy the biggest event for India in the recent times.

Some even went to the extent of saying that opening ceremony of the Delhi Commonwealth games were better than the Olympics and the last CWG and even in the Commonwealth games history. The preparations were good, food fabulous, and visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra a journey to remember forever. Some even think that the Delhi games have bettered the Commonwealth games 2006 held in Melbourne, Australia and set an example for Glasgow to relive Commonwealth games 2014 from 23 July – 3 August, 2014.

NASA Server attacked by email virus

NASA Server attacked by email virus

The virus, called ‘here you have’ or ‘VBMania’, has attacked servers across the world including those at NASA, Google, and possibly the US internal security department office.

This virus is a simple Trojan Horse that arrives in the inbox with the odd-but-suggestive subject line ‘here you have’, according to the Fox News.

From in.news.yahoo.com:

The body reads ‘This is The Document I told you about, you can find it Here’ or ‘This is The Free Download Sex Movies, you can find it Here’.

The Internet Storm Center, a free analysis and warning service that tracks malicious internet activity, reported that the initial application that generated the vast cloud of spam clogging servers had been taken down, which should limit the spread of the virus Friday.

However, the centre warned: ‘New variants may well follow.’

Leading virus monitors such as McAfee Labs and Symantec are currently investigating the threat, and have already updated their website to push security products that could protect users.

‘Stop or remove the virus with Norton Internet Security 2011,’ advised Symantec on its site Friday morning. The security companies describe ‘here you have’ as especially challenging to monitor, since the virus may already have replicated into several new forms.

The US officials denied that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was affected by any such virus.

Business quotations to enhance motivation

Business quotations to enhance motivationIf you have been looking for some inspiring business quotations to uplift your “spirit” bogged down by work pressure and nonsense deadlines, this compilation of motivating quotes is just meant for you.

We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit. – E. E. Cummings

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Everyone is trying to accomplish something big, not realizing that life is made up of little things. – Frank A. Clark

Motivation is everything. You can do the work of two people, but you can’t be two people. Instead, you have to inspire the next guy down the line and get him to inspire his people. – Lido Anthony Lee Lacocca

You have to decide what your highest priorities are and have the courage–pleasantly, smilingly, nonapologetically–to say ‘no’ to other things. And the way you do that is by having a bigger ‘yes’ burning inside. The enemy of the ‘best’ is often the ‘good.’ – Stephen Covey

There lurks, perhaps, in every human heart a desire of distinction, which inclines every man first to hope, and then to believe, that Nature has given him something peculiar to himself.  – Samuel Johnson

You must have control of the authorship of your own destiny. The pen that writes your life story must be held in your own hand.  – Irene C. Kassorla

When a man comes to me for advice, I find out the kind of advice he wants, and I give it to him.  – Henry Wheeler Shaw, a.k.a. Josh Billings

HSBC has no immediate plans to move to Hong Kong

Posted by admin | Opinion | Tuesday 12 October 2010 9:51 pm

HSBC has no immediate plans to move to Hong KongThere are no plans to move headquarters of HSBC from London, according to top executives at HSBC Holdings Plc. during a recent regular board meeting.

Incoming Chief Executive Stuart Gulliver, in reference to speculation sparked by the bank’s decision to move senior management to Hong Kong said no decision has yet been reached to move the headquarters.

From in.news.yahoo.com:

The move by outgoing CEO Michael Geoghegan and his team to Hong Kong was a smooth transition, reflecting the bank’s rising focus on Asia and fuelling a belief the bank would one day shift its home base back to Greater China.

But when Chairman Stephen Green made his surprise announcement this month that he would leave the company earlier than expected, his exit set off a scramble among top executives.

The normally staid bank seized headlines last week as it appointed a new chairman, chief executive and finance director after reports of internal bickering over the new roles.

Geoghegan and board director John Thorton were passed over for the chairman’s role. Geoghegan, who media reports said threatened to quit if he did not get the chairman job, has called HSBC’s new leadership team “awesome”.

“I have had 37 great years with the bank in 11 countries and four continents,” Geoghegan told about a dozen reporters who had camped out since early morning at HSBC’s headquarters in the heart of Shanghai’s financial district, seeking a chance to talk with board members before their meeting.

Comments on the recent management shake-up have been looked after by a group of Hong Kong and local reporters following the HSBC board members around Shanghai.
